Global Communities under EMIRGE program,joined the world in celebrating International Day of Co-operatives 2018.This year’s theme was Sustainable consumption and production.
The event chief guest at the event was Cabinet Secretary for trade and cooperatives – Adan Mohamed.He was accompanied by the Minister in Charge of Co-operatives from Somali.
It was noted that co-operatives need to be given a ministry of their own, given the critical role they poised to play in the actualization of the government’s Big 4 Agenda.
The CS stated that the government is considering restructuring NACHU to play its role as a housing federation and support it to mobilize funds but most importantly provide tax relief to cooperative societies.
Fundi Tech and Brand Ambassadors Marketing (BAM) service co-operatives, which are supported by EMIRGE program,also had an opportunity to exhibit their products and services.(see photos below)
